I'd like some way to easily report on the hours spent by project per time period (day, week, month, custom range) as well as by person. I'd imagine these to be separate charts. I'm not sure if extensions are allowed to be exposed to PowerBI connectivity, with the other VSTS data, but that would also be a viable solution, then customers can create reports for all different types of data.

Some insights out of development on TFS Timetracker for VSTS: The worklogs are stored in additional databases that are outside the API from VSTS. Currently, data can only be exported and processed manually. We are working on the API for VSTS, as well as Power BI integration as well as on build in reporting. Any comments and special requirements are welcome.

It is possible to get data from Timetracker API using Power BI standalone. Please see this article explaining how to connect with Excel. It is the same procedure for Power BI: (edited) https://support.7pace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002713186--API-for-7pace-Timetracker-for-TFS
