    Hi Sean,

Thank you for your suggestion. I have logged a feature request in our backlog via Jira. Any updates will be posted here.

    Many thanks,
    Leah

    Hi,

+1 have the exact same request. This is a must have feature to obtain clear picture of estimates overpassing quickly and easily.

It would be even more interesting to add notifications if "estimated at completion" (EAC = actual + remaining) gets over Original Estimate.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi

We also need the same... this is how it works e.g. in Axosoft (which we currently use).

A time log updates "actual work" (the worked time is added), "remaining work" (the worked time is subtracted) and the user has the option to correct the remaining time (old value minus time worked) with another value, if e.g. it turns out that the task is more work than planned.

This is how it should work for us - and these updates must happen immediately (independent of approval at the end of the week), because otherwise burn down charts are useless...

    Thanks

    Peter

We also need this feature. I agree that without it it renders the burndown charts useless.

I agree with all of the comments. We could definitely use this feature, too.

Would love this feature. Not sure we can use TimeTracker without it. The best way to know the status/progress of a work item is to frequently re-estimate the remaining effort whenever you learn something new about it or complete a period of work on it. You might work 1 hour on an originally-estimated 8 hour task, and realize you have 10 more left or only 4 more left; can't just assume it is 7 hours left.

I don't understand why this feature isn't in the solution yet, its so important in any project to be able to capture remaining time accurately so you can track if you are still on track to complete a sprint. Can you confirm if this will be added as we may have to find an alternative if not included soon.

    Hi Ian,

thank-you for your message, this is a very valid suggestion. However, although it seems trivial, there are some implications that we would need to keep into account when implementing this, particularly as a result of the different workflows/customisations available within DevOps. It's definitely a good one though, so we'll keep a close eye on this thread.

    +1

It would be good to allow the capture of revised 'Remaining Time' details if appropriate.

If someone is using the Timesheet view to enter time on multiple work items, then the remaining time will be automatically decremented by the completed hours and be subject to a floor of 0 hours. The remaining time is not visible on the timesheet view and relies upon someone spotting the 0 hours remaining on an open task and possibly correcting it.

Being able to nudge folks by having it updatable when adding time would therefore make more sense. For clarity, I would imagine the remaining time would be the value after the time submission (and not decremented by the newly added hours).
