I know this is something you're working on, but I wanted to log it for tracking and to provide our specific use cases. We would like to have Plugins / hooks or something like that, when entering the time. We would like to pre-fill the activity type, based on the users role (junior, project manager or if the project is a non-billable one, we would set the activity type to non billable - we need that because sometimes we say that effort was "non-billable" because we had to "research" or to make some investment for the client and the user should be able to enter that information).
Use Cases:
1. Defaulting Hours Activity Type, based on Task Activity Type
2. Defaulting Hours Activity Type, based on the User’s role, which implies somewhere we have to store also the user’s roles (Junior, Senior, Architect, Special Consultant XYZ)

Hi Stanislaw,
Thank you for the feature request.
Which activity type would have priority when it's set both to User's role and Task Activity Type?
In a separate feature request, you suggested filling activity type according to work item type. So how should it work if ActivityType1 is specified as default to a user role, ActivityType2 is specified to work item type and ActivityType3 is specified for work item activity type?
I know it's not what you're asking for, but in case it might be useful for you - every particular user can set personal default Activity Type.
Kind regards,
Roman
