Currently, when you create a new report, you can select Date Period, which will create pre-defined filters to select from when creating widgets.

Current options are:
Today, Yesterday, Weekly, Monthly, Year, User Filter

Please add these options:
Previous Week, Previous Month

Often times, data is compared to previous time periods, and you have this covered with the Today & yesterday.

Also, User Filter won't do, because it isn't a rolling time period.
